Day 06 – All the way back down again.

The sleeping bags worked. We are alive. “Bed tea” is delivered at 6.30 the trigger to get ready for the day.

The drill is get washed, get everything done, get packed so the porters can take our bags. Then breakfast at 7.15.

Ready to set off in the frosty air at 8.15.

We begin the day going higher . Last view back over the valley we stayed in.

Then we walk around the mountain, into the sunshine. The views back over our first days walking are fantastic.

Unfortunately, look down at your feet and the view isn’t so good.

Every few metres there is some trash. And where the porters stop (sorry to blame the locals but it’s probably true), it’s really bad.

Bit depressing, but keep looking upwards and everything is lovely.

We descend into the Mera valley.

Back into rhododendron forest, little streams. Very worn woodland trails to pick our way down. Don’t slip.

Early afternoon we approach our next stop: Khote.

Cross the river on a charming old wooden bridge.

Get inside for welcome tea at tonight’s accommodation.

This is the common room. What a contrast to last night .

Delightful. Hot showers(some of us just can’t be bothered), cappuccino, WiFi (that doesn’t really work), books to read. This place sets a good standard.

We look round the village. It doesn’t take long.

Bit of traditional dice gambling going on.
