Day 07 – Gently Up – Now this is Trekking

Even in Khote at “only” 3600m it is a cold start from the teahouse.

But the sky is blue, the high mountains are out! It is going to be a great day!

We set off up the Mera valley, the perfect gradient for a stroll uphill. And soon the sun is catching.

It might be cold but John looks good in his down jacket.

The temperature rises rapidly so it is time to remove layers and walk in the sunshine.

As we go further another peak appears.

We keep following the river as the valley widens.

Side streams to cross.

Higher still, the red weed.

Early afternoon, we arrive at Tangnag , our destination, 4300m. It’s a village here to serve the trekkers.

In the foreground is our sleeping block.

Behind is the teahouse itself; the common room and kitchen.

It’s an afternoon to have a cold bucket shower if you fancy it (yes. I did) catching up on better WiFi and doing strange things like reading.

Evening falls across Tangnag.

Cosy inside the teahouse.
